Independent Trauma Advisory Service (Oxfordshire)
What is the Independent Trauma Advisory (ITA) Service?
The ITA Service is provided by the Elmore Community Service in Oxfordshire and supports victims of various forms of exploitation including modern- slavery, sexual exploitation and debt bondage, and Cuckooing (someone, often a drug dealer, taking over the home of a vulnerable person).
This support is delivered in the form of Independent Trauma Advisor (ITAs) who look at the overall needs of the victim to see how they can help; whether this is with finances, housing, benefits or emotional support etc.
The organisations involved also attend police raids where exploitation is suspected, so that the victim can receive support straight away, when needed, allowing the police to focus on the criminal investigation.
What is Modern Slavery?
You can find out more about Modern Slavery including the different sitrs and the warning signs by visiting our 'Modern Slavery' page.
